I have a HP Laserjet P2035 printer and a brand new Windows 8 computer. The printer was purchased several years ago and was used with a Windows XP box. When I attached the printer to the new computer via a USB<->USB cable, it was not recognized. I manually downloaded the appropriate driver from the HP site and attempted to install it several times without success. I finally found the log file associated with the installation process. The log entry says driver already installed but Windows Device Manager does not seem to think so (see attached image). By clicking on 'Properties' and then 'Events' I see the following message (see second attached image). I have no idea what that error code means. Can someone provide some ideas of what I can do next? I hate the idea of getting a new printer if there's a software solution. The printer still works fine. For what its worth, via the Windows Device Manager, I've uninstalled the printer and driver once already in an attempt to get a clean install of the driver.
