Hi,

As the previous poster pointed out the LaserJet 1000 is not supported by Windows 8.x but I have been looking around for a solution to your request and found that some people have had luck when using the Windows XP  HP LaserJet 1000 Host Based Driver.  Based upon the posts you do need to go through some pretty special steps where you first manually use the Add a Printer command without the printer connected and select Add Local Printer.  From there you do a have disk to the location of the host driver.  This will create a printer called hp LasertJet 1000 but it will apparently not work so what you need to do is next connect your printer to your printer and let Windows search for the driver and install the printer which will be called hp LaserJet 1000 (copy) and this will work.  You then delete the first printer and rename the "(copy)" printer.

I realize that this appears to be a strange sequence but it is worth a shot and hopefully you will be up and printing shortly.  Please let me know how it goes.  Thanks!
