Re: Why does it sometimes take forever (many minutes) for each page to print?

The reason for the printer to take many minutes to print each page can have one of the sources below:

1.  Print Spooler - may not be spooling the incoming job as expected.

2.  Print driver - may be encountering a communication issue.

3.  Network set up - you may have to review your network setup and print driver configurations.

4.  Printer's memory has stale data that will need be cleared - usually by performing a restart of the printer or by a reset (cold reset - a procedure - a combination of keys is used to while powering on to reset the printer to factory settings).

5.  IP address may need to be changed.  It is best to have a printer set up with dynamic IP address; static IP addresses may pose such issues in some cases; another device may have been given the same IP address and you may not be aware of it.

6.  Print driver type may need to be changed - Universal PostScript print driver is strongly suggested for use.

Attempt to troubleshoot in the following order:

1.  Verify by printing an internal printer test page - if test page prints at a good rate, the issue is beyond the printer - network, print job, print driver, software/application, computer, etc.

2.  Reset the printer to factory defaults - commonly the term used is "Cold Reset"  the procedure varies from printer to printer.  check your user guide; you may need to check with technical support to obtain the procedure for your printer.  A cold reset in some printers will reset the printer's IP address as well.  That is, a new IP address will be assigned automatically to the printer.  Print a configuration page after the reset is performed to indentify the new IP address and reconfigure your print driver for the same so you can print to the printer from your computer.

3.  If the issue persists and printer internal pages are quick to print but not print jobs from your computer, check if it is to do with a specific document, specific application, or specific computer.

4.  Consider to uninstal the current print driver and install a new Universal PostScript Print Driver - http://www.hp.com/go/upd

Choose the correct operating system and bit version (32-bit/64-bit) from the list of drivers.

Note:  A cold reset will clear the printer's memory, thus removing any stale data and helping the print jobs to print as expected.

 Good wishes.
