That is usually a sign of a depleted toner cartridge. To test, put a sheet of paper on the manual feeder (fold down tray in front) and perform a self test. When the back edge enters the printer, quickly open the toner door to stop the printing. Now remove the toner cartridge and look at the image below. If the marks are present, the toner cartridge is bad and needs to be replaced. If the marks are not there, then the fuser is bad and also needs to be replaced.
