Like I said I have had success with this, but there have been some printers where it didn't work, but it is worth a try.

 

If you are printing with a fixed pitch font and are relying on the character spacing to align your text to the form, make sure the offset value you use equates exactly to some number of characters of the current pitch. So lets say your problem is that you need to do a left shift by one character on the left and one character on the right. At 10 cpi that would require a left offset of -72 and then use a positive right shift of 72 in the middle of the line. The point is that when we do the right shift, we are pushing the CAP 2 characters to the right exactly. On your format you would only need to delete 2 spaces after the right shift command to maintain alignment.

 

It sounds more complicated than it actually is to implement
