Actually the engine test button is located below the formatter towards the front of the formatter a little to the right of the white connector. You may have a fatal error and not a formatter issue though odds are a formatter issue. If you put the formatter back in and the lights come on, press the green go button to see if the light pattern changes. If it does report back the new pattern with the button pressed down. Same lights will come up again when the button is released. Most common error is the 2 bottom lights will flash. If that happens the fuser is bad and needs to be replaced. If the engine test works, then the formatter has issues. Do a search on this site for baking the board as that works 75% of the time with that error you have.
