At the school I work at one dept. has a Laserjet 4250tn and it was showing a message on the control panel that there was printer jam. I couldn't find any jam anywhere so I shut off the printer and unplugged the power connection for 30 seconds. I had the user send another job and it said there was a jam again.
I decided to upgrade the firmware using a laptop via usb connection with the 4250tn firmware upgrade utility. This did not work. I have a message - "Download file now Code CRC error Resend RFU over parallet port". I found an lpt port cable and hooked it up to an older Dell Optiplex 330 with an lpt connection.
I downloaded a Windows 7 32 bit firmware and saved it to a folder called lj4250. I downloaded & saved the rfu file and renamed it as suggested to keep it under 8 characters or less. However when I try to copy the lj4250.rfu file to the lpt1 port it starts the power cycle process as if it is going to upgrade and this error keeps coming up. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
