We have a new HP LJ 400 M401n printer, replacing the same model.
We have been getting a 49 Service Error which puts the printer into an endless cycle of initialization, formating to print, 49 error, reboot, and booting up again.
With the previous printer (400 M401n) I concluded that the printer had just given out from use.
So when we replaced it with a new 400 M401n, and it worked for three weeks, I decided that my conclusion was correct. But now the new printer is doing the same thing.
In looking on the internet for that error on the 400 M401n, I came to the conclussion that the issue was a configuational issue. Two of our computers were printing to this printer by addressing the printer host name. With the other four computers, they were printing by addressing the printer's static ip address. So I thought maybe the difference in addressing might be causing some conflicts to the printer.
So yesterday, I changed all the printer setups to this printer to be addressing the ip address. Yesterday, the printer worked well, while I was as work.
Today, it has gone back into the endless cycle of booting and rebooting.
Is there a limit on the number of computers that this printer will support?
What else can I try?
