Ken1hp23,
I gave my advice to the poster above which I know is very simple but is the correct answer. Your response is confusing and basically ends with the same result except to upgrade the firmware and replace the fuser. As a technician I have repaired over 60 of this model with the problem. It is always the fuser when it works from tray 1. The firmware upgrade only allows the printer to report and fuser error instead of continuing to try and print when the fuser is not hot enough. HP had a service note for this issue a few years ago, but hp support providers did not get involved since hp would send the new fuser to the user directly and there was no compensation for the providers time.
