Color Laserjet 5 -- Grinding noise on startup

I own a great HP Color LaserJet 5.  I love it.

But, all of a sudden upon startup  it makes a horrible grinding sound.... Like the plastic rollers are really noisy and grinding...  Once it does finish boot up it is quiet, UNTIL I attempt to print then horribly noisy again and will not print the page.

I live in Silicon Valley and I am hoping a dab of oil might help....  But, I do not want to make a bonehead mistake.

Any ideas??

Also, should I need to take it in for service....  who in the San Jose area is good with 1997 vintage HP Printers??
