We have a laserjet 5000n that I'm looking to use as a backup printer in our office. All our printers are networked and our windows server 2008 r2 x64 machine handles the drivers and print spooler. We have a combination of windows 7 x64 and windows xp x86 machines that would need to share this device.
I'm noticing that there aren't specific drivers available for this printer any longer so I'm assuming the only option is to use the PCL6 UPD. When I selected the 2008 r2 driver to be downloaded and installed, I noticed it doesn't have the other drivers needed that would be pushed to the client machines so how do you do the installation?
Do I need to simply download the xp x86 drivers and then point the "additional drivers" to that location to distribute to those machines? Will the server 2008 x64 drivers also work in windows 7?
I'm used to the drivers where everything is installed for all OS's.
