Just in case anyone else runs into this issue.
There were two potential solutions on the series of posts linked in the previous message. The one that solved this issue for me was ...
1) Power off the LaserJet
2) Press and hold the lower left quadrant of the LCD display
3) Turn the power to the printer back on while continuing to hold the lower left quadrant of the LCD
4) Continue to hold the lower left quadrant until the printer displays an Initializing message, then you can let go of the lower left quadrant.
5) eventually the printer will go through those initial setup steps and menus again
