A lost has changed since the original posts almost 4 years ago. Now days it is possible to repair the formatter as it has been discovered that cold solder joints affects many of the board and that error is one that occurs. To repair you need to remove the formatter. To remove you remove the right side cover by pulling it back. Then you open the metal cage and remove the cover of the cage. You next remove the 3 cables in the upper left of the formatter. You then remove all the screws that secure the formatter to the frame. Next place the board in a baking pan with the chips facing up and make sure the bottom of the board does not touch the pan. Now preheat a "good" oven to 350F (177C) and when the oven is ready, place the pan with the board in the oven for 8 minutes. Remove and let cool for about 15 minutes. Put back in the printer, secure to the frame and put the 3 connectors back in place. Turn the unit on and cross your fingers and you may get lucky.
