Never had to replace one but I know on the 3005 it is a bear. Since most times the issue is the shaft gets broken or out of place I usually just remove the shaft from the new pickup assembly and put it into the old assembly in the printer. I have done this about a dozen times on the P3005 so if they are similar and that is your issue that is the way I would go. It is enough just to get all the parts off the right side of the printer which you will have to do in any case.
