Re: Color Laserjet cm1312 nfi. Stuck Toner Cage

A clicking noise when printing means there is a defect around the toner cartridge.  Either the gears in the toner cartridge are slipping or the rollers around the paper path are grinding on something.

You should test your toner cartridges one at a time to see if you can isolate which one is generating the noise.  Replace the toner when you find it.  If you purchased new HP cartridges then you should be able to return them for a rebate or refund.

If all of the toner cartridges check out then you may have accidentally broken something along the paper path.  Inspect the rollers around the cartridges and replace them as necessary.

The smears that you mention are most likely a result of a toner cartridge applying too much toner to the paper.  The only other element involved here would be the fuser that bonds the toner to the paper.  However, since only one cartridge is showing a defect then the magenta cartridge is your most likely suspect for replacement.
