Re: Which HP printer driver sends @PJL JOB NAME with print data?

hmm, I've also tried many of the built-in standard-drivers, but non of them does the job.

All of them do only generate:

ESC%-12345X@PJL JOB
@PJL SET JOBATTR "OS =Windows"
@PJL SET JOBATTR "OS Version = Windows 8.1 6.3.9600.1"
@PJL SET JOBATTR "Render Type = InOS"

@PJL SET JOBATTR "Render Version=6.3.4.1"

@PJL SET QTY=1
@PJL SET RESOLUTION=600
@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=PCLXL
) HP-PCL XL;3;0;Comment Copyright(c) 1999-2011 Hewlett-Packard Corporation

And strange, I also use Windows 8.1 pro, 64bit, and I do not have the Laserjet 1320 listed ...

Perhaps the built-in PCL6 (PCL XL) drivers don't include what you want.

My Windows 8.1 Professional 64-bit system has a built-in PCL5 driver for the LaserJet 1320 printers:

Capture.PNG

You may have to click the Windows Update button in the Add Printer dialogue, then wait (perhaps for several minutes) whilst additional drivers are downloaded, before the list is repopulated.

... and I know that the PCL XL driver (not an in-operating system one) for my LaserJet Pro 400 Colour MFP M475dn printer includes the @PJL SETJOBNAME command in the job headers.

ok!

Have used the "Windows Update"-Feature within the printer setup dialog, got the Laserjet 1320, and does work.

Then I've also tried  the "Laserjet 2100 Series PCL5" which also does the job well:

@PJL COMMENT "HP LaserJet 2100 Series PCL 5 (61.53.25.9); Windows 8.1 Pro 6.3.9600.1; Unidrv 0.3.9600.17415"

@PJL SET PROCESSINGTYPE="STAPLING"
@PJL SET PROCESSINGOPTION="NONE"
@PJL SET PROCESSINGBOUNDARY=MOPY
@PJL SET RESOLUTION=600

while the "Laserjet 2100 PCL6" does not:

ESC%-12345X@PJL JOB
@PJL COMMENT MS PCLXL NT Driver

@PJL SET TIMEOUT=90
@PJL SET RESOLUTION=600
@PJL SET BITSPERPIXEL=2
@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=PCLXL

So as the PCL-5 version (built-in) seems to be able to do the job, while the PCL6-versoin (built-in) does not ...

Now I hope that PCL5 will suffice for the underlying printing application.

Chris, thank you very much!

and best regards

Thomas

LaserJet 5200 Seemingly Random Error Codes

$

I will try to give as much relevant information as possible. Our office has five 5200's and only one of them has this issue. We do not use a print server. The printer in question will give error codes throughout the day and they appear random. Six people print to this printer and never have their print jobs fail. The following error codes appear on the printer, followed by a prompt to restart: 49.4c02, 49.4c06, and 49.5001. The error messages will appear even if nothing has been printed. The printer is on a network with a static IP address. The printer was working without issues when it was originally installed. These error messages started in the last few months. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Re: LaserJet 2550 printing only random colors

Hi David - I see you know your stuff but I'm stuck on this too.   My 2550 started to show all the same symptoms that are being mentioned by others, only printing random colours on the test page and sometimes not advancing the drum for cartridge change, but I found that leaving it switched on for 2-3 hours or more seemed to make it work.  Read your advice, got to the gap between the solenoid and cleaned a little bit of dirt that was there, put some thin insulating tape between the contact plate and centre of the solenoid, still room for movement (is this right ?) and reassembled it all - only to find that it does not print any of the test page colours !   Have I disturbed something  ?   It has worked perfectly for 4-5 years and only recently started this problem.  In desperation I dragged out my 1550 L which was working and kept as a spare, only to find that the drum on this does not rotate to the right position for cartridge change .   Now I'm desperate - glad of any inspired ideas you may have.

Do a google search for the service manual and dig in and actually remove the solenoid from the top and do a better job of fixing the problem.

First thing I would do is a firmware upgrade of the printer. These are common errors when the printer becomes confused with data it can not read. Most times the firmware upgrade will solve the issue. If not change the drivers are the computers having issues to the postscript, pcl5 or pcl6 in other words using a driver it is not currently using and see if that solves the issue.

LaserJet P2035 - Win8.1 64bit Drivers - Paper Size Issue

Hi,

So I have a client who is attepting to create a custom paper size. The problem is that the driver for Windows 8.1 is very minialistic. An option I've considered to resolve the this clients issue is to install the PCL5 driver for Windows 7 64bit in compatability mode, unfortunately there isn't once available that I could find, at least not on the HP web site.

Of course there is the printer driver site ( http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3662026&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4063 ), but this doesn't give me enough information for my liking, I'm not 100% sure what type of driver I'm downloading and installing on the clients machine (PCLv5/6, Post Script etc).

So then the question. Where can I find a driver for a HP LaserJet P2035 for Windows 8.1 that allows my client to create custom paper sizes?

The over the top last hope option I have is to boot up VMBox and make a Win7 machine just for the printer driver... That's just far to costly for the client though.

Thanks for lot of tips. Now my HP lj 1010 works fine with W8.1 !!!
Unfortunately I was failed with another laptop with Win 7_32. Nothing helps, I tried plug-in and „Add Printer“ LPT1 or DOT4 then 3055, 3050 and all other LaserJet .... Also tried disconnect printer and install drivers from HP site – WinXP, Vista-32 and some of HP UPD drivers .... Also update device driver from Device manager.
In all cases everything stops then loading or installing driver (printer) with message like „Unable to install ...#&#####..“
In Device Manager printer is recognized as Other device/Unknown
Any FRESH IDEAS, please !!!!

HP LaserJet 2200dn paper jam

$

Hi,

I bought an used HP LaserJet 2200dn and after I fixed the sticky solenoid (http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/laser/28556) it worked fine including duplex printing.

Now I have the problem that every page gets stuck before it fed into the fusion unit.

Here are some pictures of how where the paper gets stuck.

My question is:

Does anyone have a suspicion what specifically could be the defect part and needs to be replaced/repaired?

If the fusion unit has to be replaced I would do it (saw some for 15$ at eBay).

But in general I have to think about investing money in this old printer, so I would prefer a cheap fix.

Thank you very much for your help!

Remove the fuser and check the action of the exit sensor flag.

Good tip on watching the latches raise and lower.  I was able to hold it up with a straightened paperclip while I inserted the cartridge.  Works perfectly.

The firmware is updated. I did not mention that originally sorry. We updated to the newest version listed on the HP website when the problem started happening to no avail, version: 08.241.0. Thank you for the suggestion.

  I too have the same problem with HP » Manage Trays

HP LaserJet 600 M603HP » Manage Trays

HP LaserJet 600 M603.

  When I try to print envelopes there is a pause of 3-5 seconds between envelopes.  The job downloads to the printer in 5 seconds and only prints 2 lines.  It took 5 hours to print 1500 envelopes cosisting of 2 lines

If you mean the part looking like this:

It is freely moving, the spring is ok and nothing is broken.

I took out the fusion unit any way and I definetly have to replace at least the film. But this should not be the problem causing the paper jam ... in my opinion.

This seems hard to believe that nobody has suggested anything as a possible fix. I have the same issue. Appears offline and unable to print. Now I was able to resolve one after I changed the driver to an older driver. However, the others did not fair as well. Hopefully another idea will come up.

Dear Len1
Thank you so much for that detailed explanation.  It worked beautifully and I have now prolonged the life of my laser jet 1220.  Your description was a perfect guide.  I simply followed like a sheep and I reached the end of the tunnel.

Just one little item I will add.  Before pulling back on the right cover, I found that the right cover is screwed at the bottom.  So first remove that screw from the right bottom.  That will make it very easy for the right cover to be pulled back and the screws of the top cover to be loosened (on the rear).

Thanks again Len1.

LaserJet P3015 driver_ downloaded as P3010. Why?

I downloaded the latest installation pack for LaserJet P3015d, but the downloaded pack is titled HP_LJ_P3010_Installer_CD2. Upon installation, the installed printer driver reads HP LaserJet P3010 Series PCL 6, not P3015. I do not understand why. Has anyone come across the same  issue?

replaced toner, new rollers, swapped duplexer, still jamming with this code.

unfortunate for me the warranty is out, and nobody knows what this code means, so it could be the main board then.

it's interesting that if the dc controller is bad, it's only affecting duplexer, not the entire print/feed system.
