I have a customer that contacted me after a repair center (Not an authorized service center for this printer) tore down a LJ5500 because the ink cartridge doors were not opening when the tranfer unit was closed. They told the customer the unit was unrepairable and a different tech. reassembled the unit. I found the lever that opens the doors on the cartriges broken. I disassembled the unit removing the DC Controller shield, the disengaging rod, drum drive gears and the drum drive assemblies. After i reassembled the unit the print cartridge doors open fine when I close the transfer unit, but when we print it only prints black, no color. When I print the demo page from the printer I only get black with a hint of yellow but nothing else. WhenI print the print quality test pages only the black prints, no colors at all. I guess the biggest thing is I don't know what the 1st tech disassembled and I need Ideas. I have ran the calabration that removal of the drum drive assemblies required. I have changed the transfer unit and color cartriges. All of the troubleshooting guides say to call HP and they say take it to an authorized server center but there is not one close to us for this printer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
