Hi, I have an HP LaserJet 4200L printer that I need to set up at my home. This is an older printer model, doesn't have a LAN jack for a Cat-5 cord. Came with a parallel to parallel cord only. I need to install it on my Windows 7 64-bit computer. I purchased a Parallel to USB cord - plugged it into my computer, but can't seem to get it set up. It automatically installed a Deskjet 2500 printer on my computer - I still can't get it to work. I tried downloading a new driver for the 4200 (Windows 7, 64-bit compatible). But still can't get it to work. I also tried to install it on a desktop with Vista 32-bit by plugging it into the USB port, but it did the same thing - installed a deskjet 2500 printer. New driver didn't work. I'm obviously doing something wrong.
What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help me with a step-by-step instruction? I'm not a professional IT person.
