If new the first thing I would do is call hp customer care and have them resolve the issue for you over the phone and if they can not they will send someone to your site to repair it. If not in warranty, then I would remove trays 2 and 3 and put paper on the manual feeder and see if the printer comes to ready. If it does try a test print from the menu on the printer. If it works put tray 2 back in with about 1/2 the paper needed to fill the tray, and recheck the backstop to make sure it is set on the size you are putting in the tray. See if it lifts and if it does try a test print from that tray. If it works do the same for tray 3. If the printer does not work, I suggest you get a service technician in to service the unit.
