Hey, I got a HP Laserjet P3015, a HP Laserjet P3005 and a HP Laserjet P2055dn and need to know how to do these things:
1) The printers should turn off from 6pm to 7am and during the weekends completely and automatically. They should turn on automatically as well. When the printer ist turned off, printing shouldn't be possible. (I'm not talking about standby modus for energy saving - I know hot to do that.)
2) Is there a possibility to have the printers print when somebody activates a button on the printer? So that the person gives a print job, goes to the printer, presses a button and after that the print job starts. (I found out that you can do a thing called "private printing" when a single user activates that in Windows. But I don't need that. I need a general function to only let people print after they have activated the printer by a button on the printer.)
I want to implement these measures to prevent that not so funny persons print black pages to make all administrators angry and to waste money in toners... Usually this **bleep**ty thing happens when there's nobody around.
3) I'd also need information how to log print jobs to find out who's being such an a* and to stop it. Useful information would be: IP which prints, date and time, operating system that prints, name of the file that is printed. Is there a possibility to log that? I got Web Jetadmin. Can I configure Web Jetadmin to do logging?
I did a number of security stuff but still there is this fiasco:
1) updated firmware
2) web jetadmin with login and admin rights only
3) deactivated USB printing at the printer
4) changed printer passwords, use secure ones
5) deactivated PJL, use PJL passwords
6) printer are not available through browsers (only be login data) except P2055dn where you can change printer settings without password but for network settings you need password access. Is there a way make that more secure so no one can change printer settings except the admin?
7) I configured IPSec-Firewall for every printer, it looks like that - is that ok to prevent somebody from the internet from printing?
1) my network - all services - allow traffic
2) all IP adresses - all services - drop traffic
please help! I'm looking forward to it....
