My HP LaserJet 5 printer does not print any job. Jobs sent from PC (Windows Vista) are quickly processed in the printer queue and seemingly sent to the printer. However, nothing is being printed. No error messages or any indication of any issue other than the fact that there is no hard-copy print produced. The printer is directly connected to the PC via parallel cable, and is the only printer for the computer. The printer worked flawlessly in the past but apparently stopped working after installing a new HP Photomsmart Premium printer. I have removed all drivers associated with the Photosmart to eliminate potential for any software conflict. In addition, I have already removed and reinstalled the latest software drivers for HP LaserJet 5printer, and rebooted the PC and printer multiple times. As a further note, I have also applied various recommendations stated in "HP LaserJet 5 and 5M Printer User's Manual," in addition to those stated on pp. 7-27 and 7-28 but to no avail. Please note that it is possible to print hard copies of variou printer configurations from the control panel of the printer without any issue.
Also, the printer self test cycle (after a power cycle) seems to go through a very short 'warm up' phase lasting about 1 or 2 seconds. That same warm-up cycle previously lasted 10 to 15 seconds (and has since changed --when in an attempt to fix the printing issue-- I applied the "Factory Defaults" under the Resets Menu option).
Appreciate your help in resolving this outstanding printing issue.
