I'm having an issue where this printer seems to be utterly incapable of making a logical decision about which paper tray to use as a source for print jobs. The situation is this:
I have a three-page PDF. Page 1 is standard letter, page 2 is A4, page 3 is legal. Printer trays 1, 2 and 3 are loaded with the corresponding paper size, with matching settings in the tray configs. Ideally, a successful print job should pull one sheet from each tray in sequence.
This does not happen, ever.
When I print the document, the result is truly random. Sometimes the print job stops and requests that I load the next size of paper in the wrong tray. Sometimes it prints the first two sheets on letter, and the last one correctly on legal. Sometimes it prints a completely corrupted, garbled mess of letters and numbers. Sometimes it prints everything in portrait mode. Sometimes it actually prints the document successfully. It does all of these things in total contradiction of any settings I alter. I have no logical explanation for any of it.
I have done the following:
-Updated drivers
-Updated firmware
-Swapped paper trays
-Reset tray guides
-Printed from different operating systems on different machines
-Printed PDF from different software (Foxit)
-Printed completely different mock-up document in same format as original
-Tested with every conceivable combination of printer and driver settings
-Plethora of other desperate possible fixes I can't even recall
None of my effots have yielded lasting results. I am simply at the end of my rope where troubleshooting this printer is concerned.
Has anyone ever experienced a problem like this? Any help is appreciated.
