Once I hit page 4 in a 10 page printout, everything looks pretty good so I would have to agree that it seems to be related to how hot the fuser gets. Some HP models have settings to change how hot the fuser gets but this printer does not seem to have that option. I think it just slows the print speed down for heavier paper so the paper is in contact with the fuser for a longer period instead of changing the fuse temperature. Thanks for your help David.
