Hi EllyG,
I'm an HP Employee,
I would like to assist you with ref to the connectivity issue.
I request you to please connect the printer and computer with Network cable (Cross over Cable)
Please wait for a minute and then print a configuration page and check for the APIP IP address
On your computer Please click on Start > RUN > type CMD and click on Okay, you will get command promt.
Type "ipconfig" and press Enter key. Scroll Up to check the IPV4 address and make a note
now verify if the IP address of both Printer and Computer are in the same range or not
for Example: 192.168.121.119 and 192.168.121.120 . so the first three spaces should be the same range and the last space can be any number between 001 to 254.
now if the IP address of computer is different than the printers IP address
we need to perform route add command in the command prompt
In the Command prompt please type : route add (IP Address of Printer) (IP Address of the computer)
Example: route add 169.243.123.111 192.168.121.119
then press the Enter Key the printers IP address will be added to the routing table of the computer
then open the EWS Page by opening the Internet explorer and type the IP address of the printer 169.243.123.111
and then Click on Network tab and change its configuration to Manual and assign a new IP address that ranges same as that of the computer like 192.168.121.120. then click on Apply on the right side bottom.
Try to ping the IP Address of the printer in the command prompt by typing " ping 192.168.121.120"
if they are both on Auto IP it will pick the IP automatic by the printer, and the printer is pinging as per above command after checking then you could proceed further in installing the driver and create a network port and then try printing a driver test page and check if the printer prints. This should really be of good help.
Thanks and regards
Roshan
