Hi Swiss,
According to me there are options that could be followed to install printer without printer connected.
Option 1 :
The Print Administrator Resource Kit (PARK) has two tools that can help you accomplish what you want to do. You can download the PARK from www.hp.com/go/upd . Click on the "Download Software" link and select the appropriate OS. You should see "HP Print Administrator Resource Kit v1.7.6 available as a download.
There are two tools to assist you with your goal:
Migrate Server Tools
&
UpdateNow
Migrate Server Tools are a set of scripts and other tools to assist in automating the migration of print queues from an old server to a new server or to upgrade the print queues on a server. View the utilities Readme for detailed instructions.
If using the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) with Migrate Server Tools the printer (object) will not configure properly due to lack of an SNMP Get response. This means that the printers will be built but not automatically configured. This is where the utility UpdateNow comes in. Once the printers are received, setup, and attached to the network w/ valid IP_addresses you can use the UpdateNow utility to force an SNMP Get request and with a successful SNMP Response the printer (object) will auto-configure.
Option 2 :
Being the easiest way, you just have to download any driver from ww.hp.com
Run the .exe file
Proceed with the onscreen instruction
And "cancel" the process when it asks you to connect the printer on network /usb.
The driver gets installed on you PC for the time
Later after connecting teh printer, you just have to provide teh IP address of the printer in
Control panne-> deviced & printers-> printer properties-> ports-> add port-> select standard tcp/ip
And follow the onscreen instructions.
Hope this would help you alot.
(Say Thanks by clicking the Kudos Star in the post that helped you.)
I work for HP
