Hello,
Have you tried a different cartridge? Did you see the same result? You can go into "Disable Cartridge Check" and swap the Cyan and Black to see if the defect follows the CRG or the "Slot". If you have done this and the defect still occurs, then I think that your printer has a Black Cartridge developer alienation timing issue. The developer alienation system moves the developer roller away from the drum (the developer roller is the smaller one with toner on it). If the cam timing is off slightly (when you open the front door and remove all of the CRGs, you will notice on the oppisite side, there is a cam for each cartridge), then this type of defect can occur on the first page.
Work Around Repair:
You can attempt a check the timing by removing material from the CRG housing tab that contacts the disengagement lever. The tab is shown below protruding downward.
Note: Perform at your own risk and I suggest using a cartridge that is empty. Remove a small amount using a small jewlers file at a time (maybe 0.5mm) and eveluate the effect.

Clik here to view.
The effect of removing material is that the developer should engage sooner.
The printer may require that the developer alienation timing be reset which requires that the Main Drive Assy be removed and is not a trivial repair.
I hope this helps and I work for HP.
