Hi DavidZuts,
I own the LaserJet Pro 400 M401DW (unlike Clintimania who owns the 401DN). The printer is no longer under warranty. (My computer is an iMac running 10.9) I can print wirelessly with no problem--provided the item sent to print is small or at least free of any graphics. However, when I send a larger file or one which includes graphics, I also receive the 79 Service Error message. I followed the prescribed remedy in the manual, like Clintimania, to no avail. Because I can print, I assume (who am I to assume!) that it's one of two issues:
- Either the firmware on the device is corrupted; or,
- Some of the DIMM memory (as indicated in the manual) is no longer any good.
I promted the device to download the latest software update (a driver update, I presume), which it did successfully. The problem persists.
- Where do I find a firmware update/replacement? And if that's not it,
- Can I replace the DIMM myself and save a service call? I ran a configuration report and the memory report is as follows:
- Total Memory: 256MBytes
- Available Memory: 183.52MBytes
Thanks.
