HP Color laserjet 3500 light, dark & missing bands on solid yellow print

I only have about 300 copies since replacing my yellow toner and now am experiencing light, dark & missing bands on solid yellow print.  This is very evident when I run the diagnostics test print.  You can also see the additional yellow bands on full colored prints.  Any ideas what the problem may be and possible fixes.
