hp 9500 win 7 custom paper size tray 1

I have 12x18 paper loaded into tray 1.  The control panel is set properly.  Our office has a mix of windows and macs and have always been able to print on 12x18 paper loaded into tray #1.  I recently purchased a new computer running Win 7 64 bit.  The windows "HP Color LaserJet 9500 PCL 6" driver does not allow custom paper sizes.  I've tried creating forms under print server properties but the custom sizes don't show up when I'm in my applications.  The PCL 5 and PCL 6 UPD drivers do have 12x18 paper as an option, but when I use these drivers the printer fails to pull the correct paper from tray 1.  With Acrobat it defaults to 8-1/2x11 paper and prints out a second sheet stating:

PCL XL error

Subsystem:  VECTOR

Warning:  IllegalMediaSize

With AutoCad, using the UPD and printing to 12x18 paper, the control panels blinks and asks for me to load A3 paper into tray #1.  Altering the margin size in my application doesn't seem to help.

I'm an architect and 12x18 paper is essential.  Thanks in advance.
