Right now you are chasing ghosts. Press the cancel button and big green button at the same time to see if the printer will print a config page and supplies status page. If it does, then you are having driver and/or communication issues which is a whole another story. Lets just see if the printer is now working. You can also press just the big green button for a second or two and release and the printer should print a demo page. By your pictures, that pad as way to big and probably impeded the movement of the carousel.
