When I lift up the 'L' arm the carousel rotates. However, I am concerned that the leverage I am applying to raise the lever enough to free it and obtain rotation, exceeds the pull of the solenoid - although I cannot check or be sure of that. Just in case and because what was left of my felt pad was thinner than the new under-chair-leg type felt pad, I disassembled it all and replaced my pad with a thinner (approx 1.5mm) adhesive foam one.
Re-assembled it all and it did rotate a bit once but because the yellow toner light is flashing, the drum stops at that toner and will not move (it expects a new toner to be put in).
This is indeed odd as this all started with thumping and a blue toner light. I now have no blue toner light (which is correct as the recent supplies status shows 544 pages) but I shouldn't have yellow either (same report shows 1302 pages remaining).
I have reset the printer and the optical warning has gone, however, when I tried to print a page the printer was found, the file swallowed, no errors reported but no print out. In addition, there's no print queue showing. I am not surprised at no print out as I do not have a green light, just the flashing yellow 'no toner' light.
I attach some images of the innards from when I re-replaced the pad in case that helps.
