If new out of box, call hp customer care for warranty coverage. Printer comes with onsite warranty. If new old stock no longer in warranty, then you need to narrow down the issue. Easy way is to go to the diagnostics menu and disable cartridge check. Now sway the black and cyan toners and perform the same test as before. If the black is still fading the issue is the toner cartridge. If the cyan is now fading the issue is the slot and you will need service.
